In this webinar we will look to raise awareness of how to support a fellow professional, patient, friend or family member suffering from alcoholism and be aware of how and where to signpost them. You will hear Sarah’s personal and professional journey and understand how we can help identify and address potential alcohol issues with our patients.

- Identify reasons, behaviours and warning signs associated with alcoholism
- Awareness of current UK Guidelines regarding alcohol consumption

Speaker – Sarah Thomson
Sarah qualified as a Dental Hygienist and then a Dental Therapist from Bristol Dental Hospital in 1989 and 2010 respectively. She has worked in a number of different settings including NHS, corporate, independent and specialist practices. At the age of 40, Sarah slipped into an active phase of alcoholism and chooses to raise awareness of this illness within the healthcare sector.
She is in her 9th year of recovery and was able to return to the dental profession after a suspended registration and was deemed ‘fit to practise’ again in 2017.’
